I am a botanist, originally from New Jersey, interested in the buckwheat family (Polygonaceae). I am currently a postdoctoral fellow in Organismal and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University, advised by Jeannine Cavender-Bares. I earned my PhD in the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology from the University of Minnesota, where my advisor was Ya Yang. I did my undergrad degree at The College of New Jersey, where I worked on phylogenomics and gene family evolution in Dipsacales and the honeysuckles (Lonicera) with Wendy Clement. I am really interested in preserving herbarium collections and spreading the gospel of natural history, and have spent a lot of time thinking about how to bring herbarium collections further into the age of big data. I believe in interdisciplinarity and bringing a diversity of perspectives and life experiences into scientific inquiry.
